About Harmony Waitaha

The Plainsmen

We are a group of men of all ages who love to sing unaccompanied harmonies! We’re not professional singers - just regular guys having fun, but by exploiting the special qualities of ‘a cappella’ singing our chorus sound is much greater than the sum of its parts. Our members come from all walks of life but we’re united in our love of Barbershop music and its unique ringing chords.

Our chorus and smaller groups perform regularly around Christchurch, with annual Winter and Christmas shows, ANZAC Day performances and various public and private events. While we always strive to develop our performance quality, we’re also a social group. Our rehearsals are fun occasions with plenty of laughter and for many of us rehearsal night is the highlight of the week.

Thinking of Joining - Why not Come to a Rehearsal?

Since early 2018, The Plainsmen Chorus has been in growth mode and we are keen to give more people the opportunity to join in the fun and congeniality of making unaccompanied song under our musical director, Gavin Hurley.
If you are considering joining  you are welcome to attend a rehearsal. We offer an opportunity to come and sing with the chorus, experience the joy of a capella close harmony singing, and meet a wide range of supportive men who are united in harmony.Perhaps you have already had some singing experience, perhaps not. It doesn't matter, because if you are keen to explore further you will be given some singing coaching. .We meet most Mondays at The Methodist Church Hall, 3 Brake Street Upper Riccarton, at 7:30pm So, if this is of interest to you, then please make contact. You'll be very welcome..
